Oleg Tinkov

Founder

Oleg Tinkov, one of Russia’s best-known entrepreneurs, founded Tinkoff Bank in 2006. In just over a decade, Tinkoff became the world’s largest independent digital bank and online financial ecosystem, offering a full range of financial and lifestyle services for individuals and businesses. In 2017, The Banker named Tinkoff Russia’s Bank of the Year, while in 2018, Global Finance named Tinkoff the world’s Best Consumer Digital Bank.

Previously, Oleg Tinkov built a number of successful businesses. As early as in 1997 he founded frozen food producer Daria. In 2003, two years after successfully selling the company, he launched Tinkoff Beer and the Tinkoff Restaurants chain. In 2005, he sold the brewery to InBev of Belgium.

Mr Tinkov studied at the Leningrad Mining Institute in St. Petersburg, Russia and the University of California, Berkeley.
